On
high-gloss cabinets, dirt and streaks are easily noticeable, but they’re easy
to clean and wipe down. A flat, no-gloss finish may look sleek in offices, but
they are relatively easy to wear out and touch ups are often a chore. Cabinets
with flat counters or doors and layered with a baked enamel finish are the easiest
to maintain.
To
create a contemporary feel in your office, skip the classic white paint for
cabinets and furnishings. Play around with colours, and don’t be afraid to go
for bold or neon hues. Add some texture and shape by, for example, adding a
geometric side table or an artificial vertical grass wall.
Avoid
bulky furniture. Look out for smaller pieces with an ergonomic design or ask
your woodworker for custom built-in furniture such as banquettes for the
pantry. You may also consider an open-plan design to eliminate the need for
cubicles or dividers.
